Food Insecurity Awareness Poster
Adobe Illustrator 2024 — 30 in x 40 in
This poster was designed to raise awareness for the striking reality of food insecurity in the United States, which is so widespread 100% of counties have individuals who are facing scarcity and in need of help. The bold yellow background and red border grab attention from a distance, while the larger and more prominent words “100%” and “food insecurity” stand out and emphasize the impact of this shocking statistic. Food utensils are integrated throughout the design and frame a QR code that provides local communities with information on where to get or give help. The use of bold colors and clear, impactful visuals makes the design both eye-catching and informative, ensuring that the message resonates with viewers.
Northwestern Michigan College Student Art Show Poster
Adobe Illustrator 2024 — 11 in x 17 in
This poster for the 2024 Northwestern Michigan College Juried Student Art Show draws inspiration from the German Bauhaus art movement of the early 1900s. The Bauhaus School, founded by Walter Gropius, has a direct connection to NMC, as one of his final projects was the Shirley S. Okerstrom Fine Arts Building on campus. Characterized by simplicity, geometric shapes, and functionality, the design reflects these principles: a minimal color palette with three muted primary tones embodies simplicity, a structured, geometric font mirrors the movement’s aesthetic, and shapes from the NMC and Dennos Museum logos form an exclamation point. This design both honors the Bauhaus legacy and provides a modern visual identity for the event.
Micro-Nation Stamp: Frestonia
Adobe Illustrator 2024 — 1.375 in x 1.921 in
This postage stamp design for the micro-nation of Frestonia, England, was inspired by the Art Nouveau movement of the late 1800s and early 1900s. Frestonia, founded in 1977 by a group of artists, musicians, and activists protesting redevelopment and eviction plans, symbolized its independence with a green flag featuring a white daisy. The stamp design reflects the spirit of the movement while incorporating key elements of Art Nouveau, including decorative borders and line work, floral motifs, a minimal color palette, and a neutral background. The use of green and a daisy references the Frestonian flag, tying the design back to the identity of the micro-nation.
Product Packaging Design
Adobe Illustrator 2025
This product packaging was created for a lemon, ginger, and honey flavored instant drink. The box features a detachable coaster that offers users a second, continued use. Inspired by the product’s ingredients, the shape of the box was designed to be a hexagon that features a honeycomb pattern. Warm, inviting tones of orange and golden yellow reflect the honey within the product, and the ginger and lemon shapes highlight the flavors of the drink mix.
